All PVR Inox employees to wear uniforms made with recycled PET bottles

Uniforms, as the name implies, are a manner of showing solidarity among coworkers. Appearances significantly influence individuals, which is why uniforms are worn at schools and universities, restaurants, and company personnel. Nowadays, even movie theatre employees are expected to be in their uniforms at work.

The most recent and exciting news is that PVR INOX personnel will wear uniforms made from 38,000 recycled PET bottles. Recycling PET bottles allows for the creation of sustainable, eco-friendly corporate uniforms.

PVR Inox has made a significant contribution to the world’s sustainability. They intend to lower the carbon footprints of their theatres over the next few years. They are attempting to educate individuals who visit their theatres about the importance of sustainability and provide some advice on how to accomplish it. PET is a polymer we use daily since it is found in plastic water bottles. Many manufacturers favour PET because it is recyclable and safe. PET may be recycled several times into containers, textiles, and other products. In addition, PET is preferable to glass since it has a lower environmental impact.

Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Executive Director of PVR Inox Ltd, revealed that all their employees would switch to uniforms made from fabric from recycled PET bottles. The last nine months have observed about 1000 employees across 25 movie theatres in 20 cities wearing uniforms made from over 38,000 PET bottles. The fabric is a mixture of 65% recycled polyester and 35% cotton.

The materials used to create the uniforms’ clothing are recycled polyester, produced by recycling PET bottles that have been used. This effort would encourage the recycling of roughly 405 tonnes of PET bottles.

Many well-known faces have been a part of this initiative. The sustainability campaign was launched, and a two-minute film was also created for this campaign, which starred Bhumi Pednekar for a two-minute screen share. This sustainable campaign, named #YourTurnToAct, was directed by Sanjeev Kumar Bijli.

Other sustainability initiatives and significant series of actions that PVR Inox has been making include:

  1. Reducing the carbon footprint of its cinemas
  2. Conservation of water and energy
  3. These include:
  4. Using xenon light projectors instead of laser ones
  5. Installing flow-restricting taps in the wash basins to conserve water
  6. Cutting down on water use by 70%
  7. Using containers made out of bagasse (waste from crushed sugarcane) instead of single-use plastic
  8. Using paper straws made from biodegradable polymers
  9. Paperless ticketing
  10. QR code entry into all the PVR Inox cinemas

Conclusion

You can reduce the waste damaging the earth by using environmentally friendly uniforms. The natural production process, mainly using environmentally friendly fabrics, helps you stay healthy and does not affect your skin. Wearing environment-friendly uniforms for the environment and the people around you is the best choice.

PVR Inox stands as an inspiration for the idea of corporate responsibility. Many theories and agendas have been based on this phenomenon. However, this initiative sets a benchmark and creates awareness among the responsible stakeholders in society to share this launch of sustainability campaigns to a great extent. It not only creates a sense of belongingness to the betterment of your organization but also indicates the well-being of society. Creating such an idea and making an impact is a corporate uniform mandate to society.
